Dear Prospective Vendor:
The Minturn Market is Eagle County’s longest-running and very special outdoor market event. This Market is the ORIGINAL, held for thirteen consecutive Saturdays during the summer months. In 2008, the Minturn Market will be starting on June 14th and running through September 6th. At this unmatched outdoor market, you’ll be in the company of an assortment of approximately 100 vendors each week in the completely unique and outstanding setting of the quaint and historic town of Minturn. The Minturn Market offers a natural and true, real market atmosphere — with vendors occupying the streets and alleys of this charming downtown district.
In 2008, the Minturn Market will be increasing promotions once again with many great plans and changes in promotions on the horizon. The Minturn Market will be advertised in local and regional papers, regional and state-wide publications and on multiple internet-based calendars regionally and nation-wide. This market is also heavily promoted on local and regional radio stations as well as television stations. Additionally, our staff and volunteers will be working with the local tourism boards, hanging posters regionally and will be working with hotel concierges and bus services as well. We take our promotions seriously here in Minturn — with the ultimate objective of bringing-in customers for our vendors to have a highly successful market!
2008 will also mark the launch of a new concept for the Minturn Market: Focus Markets. While 70% of the Minturn Market vendors will remain consistent on a weekly basis (full-season vendors), 30% will be fresh and new each week. In our inaugural effort, five of our thirteen weekends will feature and highlight a specific focus in 2008. Our 2008 Focus Markets will include: FINE ARTS & CRAFTS (two weekends), WILD WEST, OUTDOOR GEAR & SERVICES, AND PETS. Each “Focus Market” will be highlighted and promoted through special advertising as well.
Additionally in 2008, we are proud to announce that we have many new solutions and plans for improving parking and customer access to the Minturn Market. We will be eliminating the Forest Service Shuttle Service and will be acquiring NEW PARKING LOTS IN TOWN – WITH NEW SHUTTLE SERVICE for the convenience of our customers and vendors. In addition to offering these new lots and shuttle services, we will be highlighting additional in-town parking that has not been utilized as much as it could be, setting-up new parking zones for quick-stop shoppers, and identifying additional parking opportunities as well.
With that being said, we really hope that you’ll consider submitting your application to be a part of this experience in 2008. We believe there are some great changes on the horizon that will keep it familiar in our great traditions, yet keep it fresh to encourage the customers coming back! We will look to this Market as a great opportunity to raise the bar another notch and continue in Minturn’s great tradition of excellent Markets.
Though many of you may have participated in previous Summer or Winter Markets, we ask that you take the time to review how this process will be changing a bit. Being that this is a new year, and that the Minturn Market is now being run by a new staff at the Town of Minturn, we ask that you help us by fully reading the application materials and treat the application and the submission of this application as if it were your first application to the Minturn Market.
The Minturn Market Town Staff will be working with an advisory committee and will look to evaluate all applications on an equal basis and fair level in an effort to coordinate the best market possible: both for vendors and for our customers! Throughout the application materials, you will find plenty of information that will help you in the application process as well as our actual 2008 Minturn Market Application.
